How to Save in DREADMOOR
Manual saves and autosaves
- Save Anytime. The demo's store page lists it, so you don't have to reach a bed or a dock before quitting. Save before long trips, night runs and risky fights.
- Autosaves. Players report autosaves at important arrivals. One player stuck at The Throat reloaded the autosave made when they reached the dock with the gate and lost very little progress.
- Steam Cloud. Your demo save follows your Steam account, so you can continue on another PC.
The full game's store page doesn't list Save Anytime or Steam Cloud yet. We'll check both on launch day.
Where your save files are
- Open your Steam Library and right-click DREADMOOR.
- Choose Manage → Browse local files.
- Open the Dreadmoor folder, then the Saved folder.
Copy the Saved folder somewhere else for an extra local backup.
Coming from a playtest? Start fresh
Delete (or move) the Saved folder above, then start a new game. Back it up first if you want to keep it.
Fixing a stuck quest
The most reported softlock is at The Throat: if you fill the generator with fuel before the quest asks you to, the quest may not move on when you start it. Players fixed it by loading an earlier save and doing the steps in the order the journal asks. Keeping your own save from before you reach The Throat makes this painless. Can you save anytime in DREADMOOR?
Yes, in the demo. Its Steam store page lists "Save Anytime", so you are not limited to checkpoints. The game also autosaves at key moments, such as arriving at a new dock.
Does DREADMOOR have cloud saves?
The demo supports Steam Cloud, so your demo save follows your Steam account between PCs. The full game store page does not list Steam Cloud yet.
Where are DREADMOOR save files?
In the game folder: in your Steam Library, right-click DREADMOOR, choose Manage, then Browse local files, and open Dreadmoor > Saved.
Can I use my playtest save in the demo?
The developer recommends against it: old playtest saves can cause bugs and crashes. Start a new game; back up the Saved folder first if you want to keep it.
Will my demo save carry over to Early Access?
The developer has not said. We will update this page when they do.
My quest is stuck. What should I do?
Load an earlier save. Players fixed the stuck generator quest at The Throat by reloading the autosave made when they arrived at that dock.
