Armour costs speed, so the engine upgrade matters. Modules only fit their own slots.
Keeping the boat alive
- Fuel: make it from Fish Meat via the Fuel Larva and Fuel Gun, or refuel at gas stations and from fuel cans.
- Repairs: patch damage after dangerous encounters.
- Polyps: Sea-Blight polyps grow on the hull; clean them off in the Dry Dock.
- Night: trips after dark are riskier; the roof lantern is on the upgrade list for a reason.
The developer is clear that the trawler starts fragile and is never a safe shell: how far you go and how prepared you are decide whether you make it back.
